Mask and Fins Requirement for Open Water Diver Basic Course:

North Florida Divers provides rental gear included in the price of the Open Water certification course. This includes a regulator, BC, weights, snorkel, tanks, and a dive computer, which can save money on initial investment into the sport. Our provided gear is from reputable brands, we have spare parts available on site, and we offer a full warranty.

Option #1 (Gear Purchase from us) Students need their own gear, including a mask, snorkel, booties, and fins, fitted to their personal specifications. It is recommended to buy equipment from North Florida Divers for the best fit.

We offer high-quality products available at our boutique or online store, which can be purchased before or during pool class. This allows you to try them on and use them for training. Our equipment ensures years of use as you advance in diving. Training with your own gear increases pride, confidence, and commitment to regular diving. North Florida Divers prepares you well for your certification journey. Get ready to explore underwater!

Option #2 (Bring your own gear) Students who choose to bring their own mask and fins must have the equipment approved by the instructor prior to the pool session. If you bring your own gear, we do not know the reliability of the equipment, we do not have spare parts in the event of a need for repair in a remote location, and the gear may not always be a proper fit for the student. Often, the instructor has to address these types of issues while at the training site. The student will assume all risks associated with equipment and training issues involving the usage of their own equipment. Equipment failure and improper fit on used gear have been known to lower the student's confidence, result in delays in training, and incur additional costs for rescheduling if they are unable to complete the training.
